Max Mannix was born in Nyah-West,Victoria, in 1939. At the age of 16 he left home to seek adventure in the ‘Outback’.He spent 20 years droving, mustering, shearing and ultimately managing an 8000 head of cattle and 300 working horse station. The colourful experiences of those years in the Australian outback have been the main source of his artistic inspiration. Max started painting full time in 1979. He has held many highly successful exhibitions in the most prestigious galleries and his work is represented in both public and private collections in Australia and overseas. Max will be attending the opening to personally endorse your paintings on Saturday, September 20 from 12noon (Preview: Friday, September 19, 10am- 5pm).Entertainment by ‘Fiddle Dance Band’ Recently one of Max’s paintings was short listed for the prestigious 2014 Art Gallery of NSW Wynne Prize.
