On 4th October 1913 the flagship, HMAS Australia, led the new Australian Fleet Unit comprising HMA Ships Melbourne, Sydney, Encounter, Warrego, Parramatta andYarra into Sydney Harbour for the first time to be greeted by thousands of cheering citizens lining the foreshore. Jer vis Bay/ Huskisson Jan31- Feb 15, 2014 This iconic world sailing event is coming to Jer vis Bay. Previous destinations have been Dubai, Honolulu, Suva, Noumea, China, Mexico, the Caribbean and French Polynesia and now Jervis Bay/ Huskisson. About 250 crews with families and friends from 20 countries and Australia will converge on Huskisson for this spectacular, colourful event.. The 56 official competition Hobie Cats will be launched from Huskisson beach for a series of elimination races leading up to the final to declare the 2014 World Champion. There will be plenty to see from the foreshores and beaches.
