South Coast Leisure Times : Summer 2013-14
62 South Coast www.southcoastleisuretimes.com.au There's something for everyone n Braidwood Not only does Braidwood have a nationally recognised collection of historic 19th century buildings, honoured by the NationalTrust, the town offers a generous collection of art galleries, artists' studios, antique shops, specialty shops and cafes and coffee shops with menus to tempt the simplest and most particular of palates. The Braidwood Show is held annually at the Braidwood Showground, a few minutes north of the town. Braidwood is halfway between Canberra and the coast - making it a favourite day out for the locals, as well as a comfortable trip for visitors. A special feature of a country show is the animal events and Braidwood's 138th Show on Saturday, March 1, has horse, cattle, sheep, poultry and dog events. For many the Pavilion is where all the action is... with produce, artwork, handicrafts being displayed and judged.Very exciting is the number of competitions that occur and many can be entered by people without specialist skills. Also trade displays, parades, sideshows and exhibitions mean there is always something to do. Refreshment and nourishment is available from the food and drink stalls. If you haven't seen a country show this is a great chance. For the complete experience, consider entering a contest or put something you are proud of up for judging!
